Looking for clues

I ran this search on Google Trends, thought it was interesting:

Google sez:

Google Trends analyzes a portion of Google web searches to compute how many searches have been done for the terms you enter relative to the total number of searches done on Google over time. We then show you a graph with the results -- our search-volume graph -- plotted on a linear scale.

All I know for sure is that I was running a "cat vomit" and "cat vomiting" searches back in February when Marmalade started to get sick.  If you look at the graph, there was not enough search volume on the term "cat vomiting" until about September for it to register, with a quick spike up at the end of the year, while "cat vomit" shoots up from nothing to halfway up the graph in a vertical line at the very beginning of the year.  I read - somewhere - that some pets started to get sick as early as December. The original recall was for items produced between December 3rd and March 6th.

I guess I wasn't the only one turning to Google to find answers. 

It's late and I'm tired because I have not been sleeping well so I haven't done all my homework on this, but I thought I'd put it out there.
